Bruce Parrott - Dallas ISD District 3 Trustee

Bruce Parrott - Dallas ISD District 3 Trustee

Welcome

I formally announced my decision to seek re-election to the Dallas ISD District 3 Trustee seat on Monday, February 6, 2012.

When the voters of District 3 elected me on December 8, 2009 I promised to work for the taxpayers, parents, teachers and our children to raise standards in our schools above the lowest common denominator; to set policies that are best for the students; to create accountability, transparency and oversight of our district's money; and to promote fairness and equity in addressing teacher and student performance and creating a safe environment where our teachers can teach and our children can learn.

I am a reform minded Trustee who re-wrote the district’s mission statement to promote academic excellence. Under my leadership Dallas ISD is now "one of the nation’s fastest improving urban school systems", according to the Council of Great City Schools, with the largest number of graduates since 1983! I initiated the Citizens Budget Review Commission in 2010 to provide budget transparency, public input and financial guidance for the district and pushed to create the new Public Information Portal web site which now links to district check registers, vendor information, budget and audit documents and finance, spending and conflict of interest reports. I continue to support equity and fairness in teacher performance evaluation systems and I am seeking a reduction in unnecessary student testing.

We have made much progress in reforming the district but there is much work still to do. Please help our children by re-electing me as your Dallas ISD Trustee for District 3.

Sincerly,
Bruce Parrott (signature)
